Wesbanco said some of its customers and others have received phone calls from scam artists trying to obtain bank account information.Gregory Dugan, Wesbanco's senior operations officer, said the calls say the customer's debit card has been frozen. The caller asks for personal information.Dugan said that in the cases reported, the calls have come from automated systems."We have instructed our customers by phone and through e-mail warnings that they should not provide any personal information such as account numbers, Social Security numbers or any other account-specific information," Dugan said.
Wesbanco is advising customers who have provided personal information to call Wesbanco at 1 800 905-9043 and to contact their local police department."We will close and reissue bankcards that may have been compromised and do whatever it takes to safeguard the security of our customers," Dugan said.
