Saturday on ABC is all about Dick Clark (pictured here with co-host Ryan Seacrest last New Year's Eve). The network celebrates the 40th anniversary of "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" at 8 p.m., followed by the annual event at 10 p.m. There's a break for local news at 11 p.m., then it's back at 11:30 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- I was going to use this week to reflect on the year's best shows, characters and actors, but that, combined with all the New Year's-related goodies, would have left you reading this column until, well, the new year, so I've put the "Best Of" selections off until next week. Besides, I haven't looked that far ahead yet, but if the TV schedule is anything like the rest of the entertainment landscape (movies, local activities, etc.), there won't be much going on to cover next week anyway. So without further ado, let's launch into everybody's favorite holiday timewaster: the marathon.
