Latest 'RFC' features The Tom McGees, Linework and more
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- "Radio Free Charleston" episode 153, titled "Machine of Madness Shirt," is online now at The PopCult blog at thegazz.com. It features music from Linework, The Tom McGees and the team of Chad Foss and Sean Sydnor as well as a plug for Saturday's all-ages rock show at the Kanawha Players Theater and the usual animation and mind-hurting weirdness.
The Tom McGees features veterans of 69 Fingers, as well as three-fourths of the current lineup of "RFC" faves, The Concept. This hot ska band played to a packed and frantic house at The Blue Parrot on March 16, and "RFC" was there to capture the band's song "The Choice" on film.
Linework is a veteran metal band from Charleston that will be performing Friday with Karma To Burn, Lo Pan and John Lancaster at The Sound Factory, which is where video footage for its song "The Finishers" was shot. The final musical number comes from the duo of Chad Foss and Sean Sydnor, who take on West Virginia native Bill Wither's classic "Ain't No Sunshine."
Host segments were shot on Charleston's West Side. The namesake shirt, designed by graphic novelist James Mitchell, mashes up H.P Lovecraft's Cthulu mythos with Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's Rat Fink.
