Annual Jewish Film Festival celebrates 15 years

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Jewish Film Festival returns with its 15th installment Sunday at Park Place Stadium Cinemas, 600 Washington St. The trio of free documentaries starts at 1 p.m. with the Joel Grey-narrated "Broadway Musicals: A Jewish Legacy," which looks at the impact of Jewish performers and composers from Barbra Streisand to Stephen Sondheim.At 2:30 p.m. is the subtitled "Ameer Got His Gun," about a Muslim who volunteers for the Israeli Defense Forces despite Arab Israelis being exempt from military service. Finally, at 4 p.m., "It Is No Dream: The Life of Theodor Herzl" focuses on "the father of modern political Zionism" who had a vision of the Jewish people returning to their historic homeland.Call 304-345-2320.
