CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- "Elvis Lives" and "West Side Story" will lead off the 2013-2014 Broadway in Charleston series, the Clay Center announced Tuesday.All shows begin at 7:30 p.m. except where noted.The series opens Oct. 21 with "Elvis Lives," a multimedia and live musical journey across Elvis Presley's life. The performance features finalists from Elvis Presley Enterprises' worldwide Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest and a tribute to Ann-Margret<co >.On Nov. 24 at 7 p.m., "West Side Story" comes to the Clay Center. The Bernstein and Sondheim score is considered one of Broadway's finest and features such classics as "Something's Coming," "Tonight," "America," "I Feel Pretty" and "Somewhere."
At 7 p.m. Jan. 19, it's "The Addams Family." The hit musical comedy brings to life the darkly delirious world of Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Lurch and all the rest of the spooky clan."Hair" will be staged Feb. 3. The Tony Award-winning exuberant musical about a group of young Americans searching for peace and love in a turbulent time includes unforgettable songs such as "Aquarius" and "Let the Sun Shine In."
Another Tony Award winner, "Million Dollar Quartet," comes to the Clay Center March 27. It's inspired by the true story of the famed recording session where rock n' roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins came together for one unforgettable night.The season concludes May 5 with "Bring It On: The Musical." Inspired by the film, the musical is set in the world of competitive cheerleading and is "a high-flying journey through friendship, forgiveness and determination."Packages for the series are available now. Tickets for the six show premium series are $350 or $235, based on seating.The five-show series includes all shows except "Elvis Lives." Tickets are $295 or $190, based on seating.The four show series includes alls shows except "Elvis Lives" and "West Side Story."
