CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The African Children's Choir will make several appearances in the area at area churches. The program features well-loved children's songs, traditional spirituals and gospel favorites. Concerts are free, but donations are welcome to support African Children's Choir programs, such as education, care and relief and development programs.Dates and locations of The African Children's Choir performances include:
-- Aug. 2, 7 p.m., Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, 1135 5th Ave., Huntington-- Aug. 4, 11 a.m., St Andrew United Methodist Church, 815 Kanawha Terrace, St. Albans
-- Aug. 4, 6:30 p.m., River Cities Community Church, 4385 U.S. 60 East, Huntington Music for Life, the parent organization for The African Children's Choir, works in seven African countries: Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa. The program has educated more than 52,000 children and impacted the lives of more than 100,000 people through its relief and development programs, according to a news release. MFL's purpose is to help create new leadership for tomorrow's Africa by focusing on education.
