Mountain State Art & Craft Fair celebrates 50 years
CHARLESTON, W.Va. --The Mountain State Arts & Crafts Fair celebrates its 50th year Thursday through Saturday at the Cedar Lakes Conference Center near Ripley. One of the state's biggest gatherings of traditional crafts, music and food, it's open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
More than 150 artisans will sell and demonstrate the making of items ranging from wood, glass and metal to one-of-a-kind clothing, fine art and more. There is also live music every day as well as dancing, storytelling, Civil War re-enactments, children's activities and more. See a cornmeal grinding mill and a working sawmill, and sample food from roasted corn to beans and cornbread.
Pets are allowed on a leash; however, the pet motel is unavailable this year. The event is handicapped accessible with a complimentary golf cart shuttle service also available for guests.
Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors over 60, $2 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for ages 5 and under. Discounts are available for groups of 25 or more.
