"We've seen over a thousand people come to the Clay Center for the Summer Fun Day. Some people make it a tradition to come out with their families and visit us. For many others, it's their first day at the Clay Center."
Dickens said visitors tend to try to see everything, but she added that to do that may take some planning. Showings for the Clay Center's planetarium and giant screen films are usually at capacity, and seating is limited."We recommend that when visitors first arrive at the Clay Center on Summer Fun Day they go ahead and check with the box office to get their tickets to planetarium or giant screen shows. The Clay Center's current planetarium show is "Jupiter: Planetary Giant." On Sunday, the giant screen film is "Coral Reef Adventure." Both are shown in the ElectricSky Theater. In the hands-on Mylan Explore-atory is "Wavelengths: The Art and Science of Color and Light," about how manipulating color can alter the look of an object. In the art gallery, "All The Time in the World," which uses science and technology to illustrate creative ways of expressing and marking time, is on display.Along with science and art activities, there will also be an instrument petting zoo provided by the West Virginia Symphony and Gorby's Music as well as an outdoor bubble activity."And we're going to have cake," Dickens added. That will be at 1 p.m. and is in celebration of the Clay Center's 10th birthday. The art and science museum opened July 12, 2003.
