CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- This week on the PopCult Blog (blogs.wvgazette.com/popcult), Rudy Panucci presents a five-and-a-half minute video of last weekend's Charleston Rod Run and Doo Wop Car Show.
Set to punkish surf music, the clip combines a few seconds of video shot by Melanie Larch with hundreds of still photos Panucci took in sequence at the car show on Kanawha Boulevard Saturday afternoon. A quick editing session resulted in this clip going live online less than 10 hours after it was shot.
Panucci details the creation of this clip in his blog: "For this to work, I would have to shoot all the photos I wanted to use in order. That meant just one try at each automobile, and that meant lots of waiting while the person who walked into my shot and froze finished their cell phone conversation."
The video presents all types of cars, from classic Tri-Five Chevys to Ford Mustangs, muscle cars, hot rods, resto-mods and even a Delorean DMC-12 and a 1989 Yugo.
The "RFC MINI SHOW" returns next week with a preview of the "Radio Free Charleston" Halloween Special.
