The Montclaire String Quartet performs at UC Sunday.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The format for classical music concerts is usually a shorter piece, a slightly longer one, an intermission and then a bigger piece to close things out, according to West Virginia Symphony concertmaster and Montclaire String Quartet first violinist Amelia Chan. The quartet will abandon that formula Sunday, though, with "Miniatures Revisited," the second version of a show of short pieces it first staged in 2012. The group -- Chan, violinist Anton Shelepov, violist Bernard Di Gregorio and cellist Andrea Di Gregorio -- will perform short chamber works, some only slightly more than a minute long. The concert begins at 3 p.m. at the University of Charleston's Erma Byrd Gallery in Riggleman Hall. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students and children, available at the door. Call 304-561-3500 or visit
