'RFC' celebrates Christmas
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The 194th episode of "Radio Free Charleston" -- "The 2013 Christmas Spectacular," is online now at the PopCult blog (blogs.wvgazette.com/popcult). The last full-length "RFC" episode of the year, it features music by The Bob Thompson Unit and Frenchy and The Punk, as well as a message from Santa Claus and new animation from Jake Fertig.
To fill you with a jazzy Christmas spirit, "RFC" recorded The Bob Thompson Unit -- Thompson, Ryan Kennedy, John Ingrahm, Tim Courts and Doug Payne -- performing "Sing We Now of Christmas" and "Festival" at The Boulevard Tavern last week. New York's Frenchy and The Punk are featured from The Empty Glass last month with their new song, "All I Want For Christmas Is A Time Machine (So I Can Go Back To Halloween)."
Fertig makes his second appearance as an "RFC" animator this week; he'll be featured at Thursday's "After Art Walkin' Art Show," which runs 7 to 10 p.m. at Rival Games and Cards in Kanawha City.
Santa Claus shows up to plug the fun little play "The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus." It has three more performances this weekend -- 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday -- at The Alban Arts Center in St. Albans.
