CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- On Saturday, the Dunbar Rec Center, 2601 Fairlawn Ave., will host the first Charleston Area Reptile Expo. The event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., aims, in part, to eliminate the stigma attached to animals that are unfamiliar to the typical pet enthusiast.Visitors can learn about a variety of reptiles, amphibians, insects, and arachnids. Animals and supplies will be available for purchase. There will also be face painting and crafts for children, photo opportunities and raffles.
Most vendors are from West Virginia, and concessions are provided by a farmer in Barboursville. Admission is $5 for ages 13 and up and free for 12 and under. All proceeds benefit the United States Association of Reptile Keepers' Reptile Defense Fund.Visit
