"Mr. Peabody & Sherman" opens in theaters Friday. On Saturday, Marquee Cinemas Southridge will have a costume contest tied to the film's release.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- On Friday, the animated family adventure "Mr. Peabody & Sherman"
opens in theaters nationwide. On Saturday, Marquee Cinemas Southridge will celebrate the opening with a costume contest and activities in the upstairs lobby.
The film, based on characters introduced on "The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show" in the 1960s, focuses on the time-traveling adventures of a brilliant talking dog (voiced by "Modern Family's" Ty Burrell) and his adopted son ("The Neighbors'" Max Charles), who must fix a rift in the space-time continuum they accidentally created.
Given the time travel theme of the movie, the costume contest, which is for ages 12 and under, asks participants to come dressed as their favorite historical character. Judging begins at 2 p.m., and the winner will receive a birthday party prize package that includes use of the theater's party room, five movie passes and a birthday cake from Maggie Moo's.
Other activities, including balloon animals, a coin drop, ring toss and bean bag games, run 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call 304-744-3456 or visit www.marqueecinemas.com
