Dinner-murder at Adaland
PHILIPPI, W.Va. -- A dinner featuring a murder mystery will be staged Aug. 10 and 11 in the outdoor pavilion at Adaland Mansion near Philippi.
The dinner buffet begins at 6 p.m., followed by the audience-participation play "Murder Served Family Style" written by Karen Vuranch.

Pocahontas Opera House
MARLINTON, W.Va. -- Singer-songwriter Daniel Martin Moore and fellow musician Joan Shelley return to the Pocahontas County Opera House at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 11. Tickets are $8.
Moore first appeared at the Opera House with fellow Kentucky-based musicians Jim James, Ben Sollee and Daniel Joseph Dorff during their Appalachian Voices tour in 2010.
He has since teamed up with Shelley on their recent collaborative album "Farthest Field."
The Opera House, 818 Third Ave., showcases informal, family-friendly performances open to all. Children 17 years and younger are admitted free of charge. The entrance and main seating are accessible to people with disabilities.

Buckhannon arts festival
BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- The Third Annual Main Street Arts Festival, "Celebrating the Creative," will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 22 in Buckhannon.
More than 20 artists will line the street to display their work with several demonstrations by unique jewelry designers, potters, sculptors and painters. Music, dance and theater performances will be presented throughout the day on an outdoor stage.
The event coincides with the Buckhannon Farmers Market Chili Cook-Off from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Family Weekend at West Virginia Wesleyan College.
The arts festival is sponsored by the Main Street Arts Cooperative with support from the West Virginia Division of Culture and History.
