Pumpkin in the ParkThe annual Junior League of Charleston's Pumpkin in the Park starts with an 8 a.m. registration for the 5K walk/run Oct. 27 at the state Capitol complex.The day of fun for all ages also includes inflatables, old-fashioned carnival games and a basket raffle. The bake sale will feature recipes from the Junior League cookbooks, "Mountain Measures" and "Mountain Measures: A Second Serving."New this year are activities to educate kids on ways to increase their heart rates and decrease their stress levels with a Children's 1-Mile Fun Run, yoga, and Zumba. Individual pieces will be sold at a free auction from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 18 in the lobby.The event is a fundraiser for Manna Meal, Charleston's oldest soup kitchen that feeds the hungry twice a day seven days a week.Clothing Give AwayTyler Mountain/Cross Lanes Community Services will sponsor a "Clothing Give Away" from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 20 at Cross Lanes United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall on Frontier Drive.From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov.3, the church will hold a craft day and bake sale to raise money for the church's missions.
