Irish program and benefitSOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- "When Irish Eyes Are Shining," an evening of song, recitations and jokes, will begin at 7 p.m. March 16 at LaBelle Theater, 311 D St., South Charleston. CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- In response to Manna Meal's recent appeal for cereal, 1,001 boxes were donated for the soup kitchen to serve for breakfast.Executive Director Jean Simpson said, "We use 60 boxes of cereal per week, so this should hold us until mid-June. This includes serving oatmeal or grits a couple mornings a week on those mornings we do not serve cereal. The people who have breakfast with us may have as many bowls as they want of the cereal but are limited to one serving on other items. The average amount of people we serve breakfast to is 110 per day. We serve seven days a week for breakfast and lunch."Junior League partyCHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The women of the Junior League of Charleston are planning an elegant evening of hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, boutique-style shopping and networking from 6 to 9 p.m. May 2 at 405 Capitol St.Tickets are $30 for early shopper access at 5:30 p.m. They are also available from the Junior League office or any member.
