CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Senior year is a big year for students. It's not only their last year of high school, but it's also the last year of being a kid before being pushed into the real world. It's the year they need to apply to and prepare for college, and the last year they'll see all their friends every day.As graduation quickly approaches, you start to realize that the days you spend with your friends are becoming more precious and rare. Soon, you more than likely won't have the opportunity to see your friends as much as you'd like since you're on your way to college.Even though senior year is exciting, by the time graduation comes, you're more than ready to graduate. However, aside from your anticipation to graduate, you start thinking about all of the things you're going to miss."I will miss my friends and how easy things used to be. After high school, things will get to be complicated," said Deianeira Parker, a senior at Valley.
After graduation, seniors will be pushed into the real world and have to fend for themselves. Things will no longer be as easy as in high school. There will be no more depending on parents for everything!
"I will miss the memories that have been made with friends," said Riverside senior Ashley Duncan.Since you won't see your friends every day, it will be a little harder to make a lot of memories with them. This does not mean memories won't be made with them ever again; it will just be a little more difficult, especially if you're not going to the same college."I will miss seeing my friends on a daily basis. Senior year is all about making memories and enjoying your last year of high school. I will also miss certain teachers," Valley senior Emily Estep said.Yes, after graduation, you won't be seeing the teachers you've grown to know so well. Some teachers you may be glad to get away from, but with others, it may be a little tougher, especially if you've gotten close to them.Another thing seniors will miss is sports. In addition to friends, those are what Valley seniors Alexis Payne and Cody Manley are going to miss. Senior year and graduation are exciting, but they're also sad. Don't take these last days of high school for granted.
