Bridgeport woman in bakeoff
Jeanette Nelson, of Bridgeport, is the only West Virginian in the Pillsbury Bake-Off.
This year, the public can vote online to determine the 100 cooks who will compete for the $1 million grand prize.
Nelson has created a recipe for Sweet Chili Chicken Sliders. Voting ends Thursday.

There's more to the brews and wine festivals Friday and Saturday than just music and legal beverages. There's barbecue and so many more food offerings.
All food vendors will participate in both festivals. Here's what they are serving:
WVQ: West Virginia smoked products; Creperi Café: savory and sweet crepes; D'Ashley Catering: half-rack of ribs, baked beans, coleslaw, cheddar corn muffin; Ellen's Ice Cream: ice cream cones and sundaes; Freeman's Family Catering: barbecued ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs; Ridgeview BBQ and Lemonade: pulled pork barbecue sandwich, hot dogs, hot ham and cheese, hot turkey and cheese; Ms. Groovy's Kitchen: quesadillas, chips and salsa, cookies; Tastee Chef: funnel cakes, lemonade, deep-fried Oreos and Twinkies; The Leonards: fried whitefish, hot dogs, chicken wings, ribs; S&S Concessions: bloomin' onion, Philly chicken subs, Polish and Italian sausages; and Mission Savvy Organic To Go: veggie dogs, marinated tofu satays and veggie spring rolls.
Shepherdstown youth to dine at White House
Jessica Wolfe, 9, of Shepherdstown, will be one of 54 kids to attend a "State Dinner" at the White House on July 9 because of their winning, healthy recipes.
Wolfe was selected to represent West Virginia at the luncheon with first lady Michelle Obama because of her Spicy Tofu Lettuce Cups recipe.
On Thursday, the first lady, Epicurious, the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the winners of a nationwide recipe challenge to promote healthy lunches as part of the first lady's Let's Move! initiative.
The full list of winners and recipes can be found online at recipechallenge.epicurious.com. Additionally, a free downloadable and printable e-cookbook of the winning recipes, including nutritional analyses and photos, will be available in July at the contest site, epicurious.com, letsmove.gov, usda.gov, and ed.gov.
Lobbying for Trader Joe's
John Hudson, a pharmacist with Charleston Area Medical Center, has taken up the cause to bring a Trader Joe's food store to Charleston.
He is advocating that fans of the store bombard the company's website with requests to bring the store to us. He is urging its fans in Charleston to sign up for Trader Joe's Fearless Flyer newsletter to be sent by mail.
