Kanawha indictments: Nitro man indicted on attempted murder charges

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Kanawha County grand jury indicted a Nitro man on attempted murder charges after authorities say he shot another man in the chest during an argument in a Sissonville home.Timothy Chapman, 36, faces charges of attempted murder and malicious wounding for allegedly shooting Matthew Singleton, 32, of Sissonville.On Sept. 28, Kanawha County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call at a multi-family home on Lakewood Drive and found Singleton with a single gunshot wound to his chest.Deputies said that Singleton was involved in an altercation at the home. He was transferred to CAMC with "very serious injuries."In all, the grand jury indicted 61 people last week during the jury's September session.An indictment is not a finding of guilt, but merely means that a grand jury believes there is enough evidence of a crime to merit a trial.Those charged by the grand jury will be arraigned in the Kanawha County Judicial Annex in downtown Charleston in front of the following judges at the following times: Judge Jennifer Bailey, Oct. 19, 9:30 a.m.Chester Spriggs, 34, Nitro, drug charges, attempted assault of a government representative; William Paul West, 23, Parkersburg, first degree robbery; Ronald Ray Young, 38, Charleston, drug charges.Judge Charles E.
