CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Moody Blues, Bela Fleck and the Tedeschi Trucks Band will headline the Spring 2012 Clay Center series.The season begins Feb. 18 with Ragamala Dance, a troupe that pushes the boundaries of traditional Indian dance. A Minneapolis Star Tribune reviewer called the performance "a fine example of what magic can happen when movement, visual artistry and music exist in close harmony with one another on stage."On March 23, the Clay Center will host the Montana Repertory Theater's production of "Doubt." The acclaimed, Pulitzer Prize-winning play revolves around a growing conflict between a much-loved, progressive priest and a rigidly conservative nun.Banjo great Bela Fleck and his Flecktones return to Charleston on April 21 with new compositions. The multi-Grammy winners have defied expectations by mixing styles and fusing together bluegrass, jazz and anything else that catches their interests.
On April 15, '80s rocker and soap opera heartthrob Rick Springfield comes to town. Best known for songs like "Jessie's Girl" and "Love Somebody," the Grammy Award winner has stayed active since the 1980s with television roles and a run on Broadway.
Along with the regular season, there are two special add-on shows, separate from subscription packages.First, on March 30, husband and wife musical team Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi bring their hot rock and blues and Americana outfit, the Tedeschi Trucks Band to town. Then, on April 1, progressive rock pioneers The Moody Blues, best known for "Nights in White Satin," "Question" and "In Your Wildest Dreams," appear on April 1.Subscriptions for the four season shows are $52, $88 and $116, based on seating. Clay Center subscribers also get advanced priority notice of additional shows and the opportunity to buy seats before the general public.Also, season ticket holders have the opportunity to buy tickets for The Moody Blues and Tedeschi Trucks Band before single tickets go on sale to the general public. Tickets for the Tedeschi Trucks Band may be added for $25, $40 or $65, based on seating. Tickets for the Moody Blues may be added for $35, $60, $75 or $90.Season ticket packages are on sale now. Current season ticket holders have until 5 p.m. Dec. 11 to renew and receive seating priority.Single tickets for all Clay Center Presents Spring 2012 performances will go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 23.
