Upshur County man faces moonshine charge

FRENCH CREEK, W.Va. -- An Upshur County man faces charges of making illegal moonshine following a raid at his home.

The Upshur County Sheriff's Department said that deputies found an illegal still and 25 gallons of what police believe is moonshine during Tuesday's raid at Wesley W. Depoy's Hinkle Ridge home in the French Creek area.

The 72-year-old Depoy was charged with manufacturing of illegal distilled spirits. He's being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.

The sheriff's department says the investigation began when it received information that moonshine was being sold from the home.
