Two men face charges in theft of copper from police phone lines

WHITESVILLE, W.Va. -- State Police troopers arrested two men Tuesday who allegedly stole copper from a State Police detachment in Boone County.Sgt. Michael Baylous said troopers began investigating a copper theft from phone lines at the State Police detachment in Whitesville.
The investigation led troopers to Clarence Green, 24, and Harley Farley Jr., 23, both of Beckley, Baylous said. Police charged the men with interruption of telephone service, grand larceny and conspiracy to commit a felony.The theft caused about $25,000 in damage and disrupted phone service for the detachment and community for nearly two days, Baylous said.
