Power outage affects 1,500 in Dunbar

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Around 1,500 Appalachian Power customers in Dunbar were out of power Sunday due to a problem with an underground cable, a company spokesman said.The outage was reported around 10:30 a.m. in the area of Dunbar Avenue and 10th Street. Customers were switched to an alternate power source and had their electric back on by 3:30 p.m., said Phil Moye, an Appalachian Power spokesman. Repairs to the cable were incomplete at around 3:50 p.m., but Moye said customers should not expect another outage because of the problem.
