Drugs a factor in fatal state school bus-car crash, state medical examiner says


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- A report from the state medical examiner says drugs contributed to a school bus-car crash in Berkeley County that killed a Virginia man.A car driven by 42-year-old Mark Allen Diggs crossed the median on Interstate 81 and hit the front of a Berkeley County school bus on May 2. Diggs was killed and 11 students on the bus were injured.State Police Cpl. J.B. Flanigan tells The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown, Md., that the medical examiner's autopsy report shows Diggs died from multiple blunt force injuries.The report also says abuse of oxycodone and alprazolam were a contributing cause.
Oxycodone is a painkiller and alprazolam is prescribed for anxiety or panic disorders.
