will sponsor a picnic to celebrate the Affordable Care Act's series of new benefits for women and children that will take effect on August 1. The picnic will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. August 1 at Celebration Station next to Piedmont Elementary, corner of Quarrier and Bradford streets. Members of the sponsoring Committee on Women's Health of the West Virginians for Affordable Health Care are organizing the picnic and will be on hand to provide information about the benefits to attendees. The committee is made up of 14 non-profit organizations representing women and children in West Virginia. The picnic is free and open to the public. Hobbyists from all over the country take part in discussions and attend a large radio flea market. Admission is $6. Tables, with electric power, are available for venders. Those wishing to obtain a new or upgraded Amateur Radio License from the Federal Communications Commission, can take official examinations at 10:30 a.m. in the main church building. Registration begins at 10 a.m. All examination elements will be offered for all classes of Amateur Radio Licenses. A fee of $15 will be charged per test.
