Strong storms expected Sunday

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston and other parts of Kanawha County are under a special weather advisory Sunday morning, as a strong thunderstorm is expected with strong winds and possible hail.The National Weather Service said wind gusts of up to 50 mph and dime-sized hail are possible, and brief downpours are likely.
The storms are expected near Charleston at about 11:50 a.m. and Alum Creek near noon, the weather service said.Also, much of the state is under a flash flood watch through late tonight. The flood watch includes Barbour, Boone, Braxton, Cabell, Calhoun, Clay, Doddridge, Fayette, Gilmer, Harrison, Kanawha, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, McDowell, Mingo, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Putnam, Raleigh, Randolph, Ritchie, Roane, Taylor, Upshur, Wayne, Webster, Wirt and Wyoming counties. People living in flood-prone areas should monitor water levels often as the storms move in and be prepared to take quick action if flooding occurs, the weather service said.
