Healthy lifestyle launch aimed at Southern West Virginia


MORGANTOWN -- A group of health professionals is launching a multi-year effort to help Southern West Virginia residents develop healthy lifestyles.The project is called the Southern West Virginia Lifestyles project. The State Journal reported Monday that it is a collaborative effort by faculty and students drawn from West Virginia University's schools of public health, dentistry, nursing, medicine and pharmacy, among others.
The program's debut was in Pineville at the weekend Labor Day Fair.Michael McCawley is leader of the project and interim chairman of the department of environmental health sciences. He said the launch in Wyoming County is intended to find residents who are interested in becoming healthy lifestyle organizers in their communities.
The project provides the training and other support to get local organizers started.
