State technology workers to help in Louisiana

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Seventeen employees from West Virginia's Office of Technology will go to Louisiana to help that state's Department of Children and Family Services in the wake of Hurricane Isaac.State Chief Technology Officer Gale Given said Tuesday that more than 50 staff members volunteered, but that number was reduced to ensure the continuity of operations at home.
The volunteers will help with personal computers, local area networks, card swipe systems and other matters as needed. They're expected to leave this week and remain in Louisiana for about two weeks.Louisiana will reimburse the costs of the volunteer effort.
