Photos of veterans exhibit to debut at Yeager Airport
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A photography exhibit showcasing veterans from World War II through present conflicts will debut at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Yeager Airport.Glenville State College's "A Tradition of Services" features photographs taken by Glenville alumnus Mark Romano, who took pictures of veterans at VA facilities around the state, according to a news release from the school.Veterans featured in the photographs are expected to attend, as is Medal of Honor recipient Woody Williams, among others.
The exhibit is part of a larger project the school has done interviewing more than 200 veterans. The photographs coincide with "Heroes Among Us," a book with a collection of photographs that also include quotes from veterans and short stories. The book will debut when the exhibit returns to the school Oct. 15.A documentary directed by Robert Tinnell, of Allegheny Image Factory, will premiere at Glenville State on Nov. 3 in conjunction with a dinner and ball for veterans.Bob Henry Baber, mayor of Richwood and a former Mountain Party candidate for governor, will present a play he wrote based on interviews and stories conducted with veterans at 7 p.m. on Nov. 8 and 9 at the school.
