United Way, University of Charleston, Clay Center and WQBE will partner for a Day of Caring to benefit Manna Meal. Items needed are canned fruit and canned meat with flip-top lids; cereal, condiments, small jars of jelly, mac and cheese, pork and beans, sugar-free powdered drinks and beanie weenies. Canned vegetables are not needed. Drive through to drop items off from noon to 3 p.m. at the Clay Center.FUTURE EVENTS
Charleston Area Alliance will host its next Business After Hours event from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Ferguson Enterprises, 160 Spring St. The cost is $15 for Alliance members and $25 for future members in advance; $25 for Alliance members and $35 for future members at the door. West Virginia Educational Broadcasting Authority will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at 600 Capitol St.Unity of Kanawha Valley will be home to the monthly Open Stage and Coffee House with host Ron Sowell at 7:30 p.m. Friday at 804 Myrtle Road, corner of Bridge and Myrtle roads. Host will be Mike Arcuri. Local musicians are welcome to come and share their talents in a friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere. The performers sign up at 7 p.m. General admission is $5. Admission for performers, seniors and children is $2. Various coffees, teas, soft drinks and homemade treats are available at a small cost. Al-Anon and Alateen will hold meetings for friends and family of alcoholics and for teens who deal with the alcoholism and/or drug addiction of a family member or friend. Al-Anon meetings are held at 8 p.m. Tuesdays at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1105 Quarrier St.; noon Wednesdays at the Kanawha County Day Report Center, 900 Christopher St.; 7 p.m. Thursdays in the Edgewood area, St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 819 Somerset Drive.
