Steelworkers at Constellium's aluminum plant in Ravenswood have been on strike since Aug. 5 after talks broke down about a new five-year contract that would change workers' health benefits.
Last week, the company offered workers a $7,500 signing bonus and a 2.5 percent wage increase for each year of the contract, according to a statement on Constellium's website. The offer included a 95/5 health-care plan beginning in 2013. Under the revised plan, workers would pay weekly contributions toward health-care premiums starting in 2017.
