State highway commission to meet for first time
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin will lead the inaugural meeting of a commission charged with developing a long-term plan for West Virginia's highway system.
The West Virginia Blue Ribbon Commission on Highways is scheduled to meet this morning at the Capitol.
Tomblin announced the commission's members earlier this week. They include lawmakers, state and local officials, industry and labor representatives, college professors and citizens.
The commission will study the state highway system's condition and needs, and identify funding options.
