Police chase through Martinsburg leads to drug arrest

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Two men are facing felony drug charges after they led officers on a late night police chase in Martinsburg.Around 10:30 p.m. Friday, the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crime Task Force was conducting a cocaine distribution drug investigation in Martinsburg.During the investigation, task force officers tried to arrest Zachari Brian Huff, 20, of Martinsburg and Martin Cain Felder, 33, of Damascus, Md., at the Sheetz gas station in Martinsburg, according to the West Virginia State Police.When officer approached Felder's vehicle, he fled with Huff in the passenger seat, according to the State Police. Felder rammed a Deputy United States Marshal's vehicle and tried to hit a task force member in the gas station parking lot, according to police.
Task force members fired shots at the vehicle in defense. No one was injured.Officers from the State Police, the Martinsburg Police Department, the Berkley County Sheriff's Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department followed Felder's vehicle. At one point, Huff jumped from the vehicle and received minor injuries, according to police.Officers used tire-deflating strips to finally stop the vehicle. Felder and Huff were both arrested and face felony conspiracy and distribution of a controlled substance charges, according to police.Felder is also charged with fleeing from law enforcement and assault on a police officer. He was also wanted for probation violation out of Maryland. Both men are being held in the Eastern Regional Jail awaiting arraignment.
