Princeton officer involved in station incident resigns

PRINCETON, W.Va. -- A veteran Princeton police officer involved in a domestic incident at the city police station has resigned.Sgt. Mary Beth Gergely had been on administrative leave since the June 17 incident.Police Chief P.V. Powell tells WVVA-TV that Gergely resigned Sept. 7.Mercer County prosecutor Scott Ash has said authorities believe Gergely stopped her domestic partner's vehicle and brought the woman to the police station. An argument then ensued.
Surveillance cameras recorded the incident.The incident was investigated by the West Virginia State Police.Gergely had been a member of the police department for more than 16 years.
