CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources is inviting visitors to help celebrate Kanawha State Forest's 75th anniversary.Officials say the state forest in Charleston turns 75 years old on Friday.To celebrate, visitors are asked to walk for one half-hour or more between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. There is no designated trail or distance.
Afterward, visitors can then stop by the forest office to register and receive a commemorative 75th anniversary lapel pin.
Officials say the celebration is meant to encourage residents to be active outdoors. The West Virginia state park system is a partner with ActiveWV, a statewide physical activity initiative.
