Correctional officer traded cigarettes for sex, police say

BECKLEY, W.Va. -- State Police on Thursday arrested a Southern Regional Jail correctional officer who allegedly traded cigarettes with female inmates for sex.William Roy Wilson II, 39, of Beckley, was arrested and charged with four counts of imposition of sexual acts of persons under supervision, a felony.Wilson allegedly used his position as correctional officer to exchange cigarettes with at least three inmates in exchange for sexual favors, said State Police Sgt. Michael Baylous.Baylous said police were alerted when one of the victims came forward. Baylous was unsure if Wilson held rank within the jail or how long he's been employed by the Regional Jail Authority.
Wilson was arraigned in Raleigh County Magistrate Court on Thursday and ordered held in Southern Regional Jail in lieu of a $75,000 bail. If convicted, Wilson faces up to five years in prison and no more than a $5,000 fine.Emails to Regional Jail Authority spokeswoman Ashley Bennett were not returned Thursday afternoon.
