Evicted Logan residents receiving help to move
RITA, W.Va. -- West Virginia and Logan County officials are trying to help nearly 30 residents who are being evicted from a former coal camp.
DB Land LLC sent eviction notices to residents of Rita earlier this month. The company acquired the rental properties from Snap Creek Properties.
Sen. Art Kirkendoll, D-Logan, told The Logan Banner that the residents understand they have to move. He says they're just asking for time and help to relocate.
Kirkendoll said a DB Land official told him that he has contacted other land companies seeking available land for the residents.
The Logan County Democrat said state and local officials are working to determine what assistance they can provide.
A meeting for the residents is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday in Rita.
