  • CAMC Women and Children's Hospital will sponsor its 2012 Teddy Bear Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the hospital. Children will have the opportunity to visit the hospital, some for the first time, in a fun setting. Medical professionals play games and perform crafts with the children.
  • Circle of Friends will meet at 1 p.m. Sunday at Panucci Orthodontics, 133 Seventh Ave. South Charleston. This international group meets to learn of healing power of God. For more information, contact N. Morris at 304-344-4804.
  • Kanawha County Public Library Board of Directors Finance Committee will meet at 3:45 p.m. on Monday at the Main Library. The purpose of the meeting is to accept a grant of $28,000 of state Community Participation Project funds allocated to KCPL. The stated project is lighting retrofit to increase energy efficiency and public computer replacement at the Main Library. Immediately after the Finance Committee meeting, the Board of Directors will meet at 4 p.m. Both meetings, which are open to the public, will be held in the John V. Ray Room on the third floor.   • West Virginia Institute for Spirituality will offer two new seminars at its location, 1601 Virginia St. E. The Enneagram for Professional Helpers will be presented by the Rev. Vernon McNear from 2:30 to 9 p.m. Oct. 12. A seminar titled "The Spirituality of the Story," will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 13, lunch included. The Rev. Christina St. Clair will present this seminar. CEU credits for social workers, registered nurses and licensed professional counselors are available at both seminars.   • VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 8516 will sponsor a Pre-Christmas Bazaar at 9 a.m. on Oct. 13 at the post home, 232 Pinch Road, Elkview. Tables are available for rental. Call Eloise Gandee at 304-577-6292 to reserve a table.
  • West Virginia State University Extension Service is seeking coffee drinkers and mushroom eaters for a one-day workshop on growing oyster mushrooms in used coffee grounds. The workshop is from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 25 at the Rock Lake Community Life Center, The workshop will illustrate the method for growing mushrooms in coffee grounds and offers a unique option for recycling something commonly discarded after use. Attendees will receive a kit containing everything needed to begin growing mushrooms at home. Registration is required, along with a $30 fee to cover the cost of materials.   • Kanawha City Garden Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the home of Pam Pressler. Co-hostess will be Judy Spradling. The program will be "Let's Plant Some Bulbs."
