New W.Va. I-79 rest areas' completion delayed

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- Completion of two new rest areas on Interstate 79 will be about a month later than projected.City Construction Co. is building the rest areas along the northbound and southbound lanes in Harrison County. The $7 million project was expected to be completed by Oct. 31.
City Construction superintendent Bobby Tenney tells The Exponent Telegram that the completion date has been pushed back to the end of November.Tenney attributes the delay to several change orders. They include a new lift station for the septic system, the repair of a sewer line underneath the interstate and new foundations for exterior lighting.The new rest areas will replace smaller facilities that were more than 45 years old.
