Salvation Army kicks off its annual Christmas Campaign
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Salvation Army in Charleston announces the launch of its annual Christmas Campaign to raise funds to help people who continue to struggle across Kanawha, Putnam, Roane and Clay counties. The annual Red Kettle/Angel Tree Kick-off will take place at noon Friday at the Charleston Town Center, Brawley Walkway. This year's campaign theme is "Share Your Blessings. Be Blessed.The Salvation Army's Christmas Campaign will include traditional fundraising methods, such as direct mail, as well as the highly visible Red Kettles -- a holiday tradition that has served as a symbol of goodwill for more than 100 years.Locally, The Salvation Army in Charleston hopes to raise $225,000 to help sustain the vital programs and services that help needy people in their daily struggle for survival. The Salvation Army officials stress that any contribution will help and donations are gratefully accepted. Area commander is Capt. Aaron Goldfarb.
