SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Blackwater Falls State Park is back in business after being shut down by Superstorm Sandy.Park superintendent Rob Gilligan says the lodge, restaurant and cabins are reopening today. But there's still work to be done. Although power has been restored, Gilligan says the park faces the longer-term task of clearing trails, roads and other access areas from downed trees. The 214 steps of the wooden boardwalk and vista platforms providing access to view the falls remain closed. Several large trees destroyed sections and must be removed before the boardwalk can be rebuilt. Gilligan says that could take until next spring.Sandy dumped more than 30 inches of snow on the park, and snow is still present almost three weeks later.
