CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The B'nai Jacob Ladies Auxiliary Chanukah Gift and Art Show takes place Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at B'nai Jacob Synagogue, 1599 Virginia St. E.Jewish- and Israeli-made olivewood gifts will be for sale along with jewelry, pottery and artwork by local artists. They include Randy Selbe, Charlotte Pritt, Jennifer McGee and Theresa Young.Books by local authors will be available.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Arts Council of Kanawha Valley will hold an arts social, its version of a business-after-hours event from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 6 at the West Virginia State University Economic Development Center, 1506 Kanawha Blvd. W.It will be an evening of giving, shopping, networking and making silly holiday photos. Creators, artists and artisans will help shoppers select unique gifts.For $5, guests may have their photographs taken in funny poses with holiday props. Refreshments will be available.
Free film workshop
Filmmakers, production personnel and others interested in the film industry may learn the functions and processes of the West Virginia Film Office at a free workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 8. The event is part of the ongoing Creators Program at West Virginia State University's Economic Development Center, 1506 Kanawha Blvd. W.Participants will learn the role of the Film Office and its services; how to find production work in the state; production planning; working with city/county officials, business leaders and property owners to secure locations; and more."We're looking to target emerging and established filmmakers, crew personnel, production companies, even high school and college students," said Pam Haynes, director of the West Virginia Film Office. FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. -- The Fayetteville Arts Coalition will celebrate the installation of a new Jeff Fetty sculpture from 6 to 11 p.m. Dec. 7 at 103 Keller Ave., above Secret Sandwich Society.
Fetty, of Roane County, was named one of the world's seven premier metal designers for 2012. His work in the road divider at the intersection of Keller Avenue and Court Street is the first outdoor sculpture in Fayetteville.Fetty will be at the holiday celebration and art show, featuring 15 local artists and music by Ken Kruger.Across the street from the new sculpture is a recently completed outdoor mural by Charleston artist Rob Cleland.Tamarack art demos
