CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Kanawha County sheriff's deputies had a busy weekend, according to sheriff's department Capt. Sean Crosier.On Friday, Crosier said, Sgt. J.H. Thaxton was patrolling near Davis Creek at about 10:30 p.m. when the electronic license plate reader in his cruiser told him he had just passed a car with a stolen plate. Thaxton turned around and pulled over a Geo Tracker driven by Christopher White, 36, of Alum Creek.White allegedly told Thaxton he had taken the plate off a car at CAMC Women and Children's Hospital the day before. White was arrested and charged with transferring and receiving stolen property and not having insurance. He was released on a personal recognizance bond.On Saturday, deputies went to Rich Fork Road near Sissonville at about 7 a.m. after getting reports about someone making methamphetamine. When they got there, Crosier said they allegedly found Corey Cranfield, 24, asleep near an outbuilding.Once they woke him up, they allegedly found tools and materials for making the drug in Cranfield's pockets, a backpack and an ammunition can, Crosier said. Deputies also found more than 13 grams of suspected meth.Cranfield was charged with operating a clandestine drug lab and possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver. He was in the South Central Regional Jail today in lieu of $25,000 bond.Later that evening, deputies went to London after Darrell Allen Brown, 54, allegedly called 911 to report he had drunk antifreeze. When paramedics and deputies arrived, Brown said he had not really drunk antifreeze, but wanted a ride to CARES for a bite to eat, Crosier said.Brown was charged with making a false report of an emergency. He was in the South Central Regional Jail today in lieu of $2,000 bond.On Sunday, James Chapman, 66, of Campbells Creek was allegedly robbed about 5 p.m. at his Gapview Drive home, Crosier said.Crosier said Chapman heard a knock at the door and opened it to find a woman who asked for money. Chapman let her in, but then a man pushed his way in and started assaulting Chapman, Crosier said. The couple made off with Chapman's wallet.Deputies are looking for Terry Shamblin and Tonya Blount, who they think may be connected to the robbery.
