Man on home confinement found growing marijuana
RAND, W.Va. -- A Rand man on home confinement was arrested Saturday night after a sheriff's deputy found him with marijuana in his home.
Michael Antonio Smith, 40, was at home on Raven Drive when a sheriff's deputy showed up for a random visit, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.
The deputy found Smith with six ounces of marijuana already packaged for sale, according to the release. The marijuana had a street value of about $2,000 and there was also $600 in cash in the home.
Smith was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and of violation of home confinement. He was taken to South Central Regional Jail, where he remained Monday. Deputies did not immediately know what charges had landed Smith on home confinement in the first place.
