Appalachian Power says crews ready for storm

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Appalachian Power says it's making preparations for possible power outages from a storm expected to bring heavy, wet snow to its service areas in southwestern Virginia and southern West Virginia.The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning from noon today through early Friday with 4 to 8 inches of snow expected and heavier amounts in higher elevations.
Included in the warning area are eight counties in southern West Virginia and from Charlottesville, Va., southwest to the Kentucky line.Appalachian Power says contract line workers, damage assessors and tree crews are ready to respond to the storm. In addition, the company says it will bring in outside help if needed.
