Lewisburg Fire Chief Wayne Pennington will discuss the fire levy that will be on the ballot for Greenbrier County voters in March at 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Greenbrier County Democratic Women's meeting. The group meets monthly at the Greenbrier County Courthouse, and the meetings are open to the public. All interested citizens are invited to attend.Lifespring Yoga will offer a meditation group practice at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 30 at 1032 Quarrier St. The format is 30 minutes of reading/discussion followed by sitting/walking meditation. Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association will meet at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 31 at 1248 Greenbrier St.
West Virginia Institute for Spirituality will have a "Soup and Silence" program from noon to 12:50 p.m. on the first Friday of each month at 1601 Virginia St. E. A free-will offering will be accepted. They will also present "Thomas Merton: A Workshop on Contemplation" from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 1 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 2 at the same location. All things Merton will be discussed at this workshop. An offering of $40 for commuters and $75 for overnighters is suggested.
