WVU hosts Sandy Hook panel for educators, parents

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Experts at West Virginia University are planning a panel discussion on the Sandy Hook school massacre in hopes of helping parents, teachers and school officials deal with school violence.Psychologists and others will speak Thursday at Lyon Tower about the tragedy that left dead 20 children and six adults at the Connecticut school.WVU Nursery School director Bobbie Warash says that like the 9/11 terror attacks, Sandy Hook was so heavily reported by the media that even 3- to 5-year-olds were aware of it.
A WVU police officer visits the nursery school once a year to give the staff safety tips and strategies. But as a result of Sandy Hook, Warsah says the first-ever lockdown will happen this year.Caregivers are crafting a fun exercise they say won't create fear.
