CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Eagle Scout awarded
Delbert Robertson, 17, of Troop 64 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, received the rank of Eagle Scout on Dec. 29, 2012. He is a junior at South Charleston High School, where he is a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force JROTC. Robertson plans to continue his scouting career as an adult following his 18th birthday.
He lives in South Charleston with his grandparents, Jack and Ruth Robertson. He is the son of Jack Jr. and Leah Robertson of South Charleston.
West Virginia Wesleyan College American Scholar finalists
On Jan. 21, West Virginia Wesleyan College announced the winners of its seventh annual American Scholar Program. Samara Kendrick of Clarksburg was the winner. Andrea Heater of Salem was first runner-up, and Christopher Gum of Camden was the second runner-up.
Kendrick and Heater attend Liberty High School; Gum attends Lewis County High School.
Kendrick receives a full four-year scholarship including tuition, room and board. Heater and Gum receive four-year scholarships of $5,000 and $2,500 respectively, in addition to other West Virginia Wesleyan academic awards.
Other finalists were Conner Ferguson of Glenville, Gilmer County High School; Logan Godfrey of Clarksburg, Robert C. Byrd High School; Hunter Hirsh of Morgantown, Morgantown High School; Ryan Holcomb of Lumberport, Lincoln High School; Susan King of Fairmont, East Fairmont High School; Kelsie Krantz of Elkins, Elkins High School; Katilyn Romain of Bridgeport, Bridgeport High School; Christen Saab of Bridgeport, Bridgeport High School; and Mason Winkie of Bridgeport, Bridgeport High School.
West Virginia Wesleyan holds the competition in collaboration with Magic 106.5 for students in the Magic 106.5 listening area. The program is sponsored by West Virginia Wesleyan College, in conjunction with West Virginia Radio Corporation and the law firm, Columbo & Stuhr, PLLC.
