Canned food driveUniversity of Charleston Enactus team will collect canned goods for the Union Mission from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Ashton Place and Riverwalk Plaza Kroger locations. The canned food drive is held in conjunction with the Campbell's Soup "Let's Can Hunger" national campaign. Enactus is an international nonprofit organization working to bring together business leaders of today and tomorrow by encouraging students to make a difference in their communities while developing leadership skills. Cancer society pageantThe Miss and Master Relay for Life of Randolph County Pageant an annual fundraising event for the American Cancer Society, will begin at 2 p.m. May 19 in the Elkins High School theatre. The fundraising pageant is open to boys and girls up to 19 years old. The free event will showcase the artwork of students throughout Kanawha County in grades K-12 as well as that of children participating in YMCA preschool and after-school programs. Artwork will be judged in the categories of drawing, painting, sculpture, digital art and photography, and mixed media with ribbons and prizes awarded. A silent auction will also be held with items such as trips, jewelry, sports memorabilia, beauty products, food and more.
