Libraries openBoth the Main Library and the St. Albans Branch Library will be open this Sunday as usual. There are no immediate plans to eliminate Sunday service at the libraries. Sunday Jams will go on as scheduled at the Main Library at 2 p.m. This week's concert features ensembles from the West Virginia Youth Symphony.DAR luncheonThe Kanawha Valley Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at noon March 9 for a luncheon meeting at Canaan United Methodist Church, corner of Roane Street and Maryland Avenue. The cost for lunch is $15, payable on arrival. Reservations are required and the deadline is Wednesday. Beverly Glaze from Kanawha Valley Senior Services will present a program titled "Staying Fit by Walking." Hostesses are Sue Harris and Betty Kelley. Members are encouraged to bring or wear a decorated bonnet for judging as prettiest, funniest and most patriotic. Bonnets may be donated for a silent auction to benefit the projects of the Kanawha Salines Society Children of the American Revolution. Campbell's labels, Box Tops for Education for the Schools Committee and canceled postage stamps for the Veterans Committee will be collected.Self-image workshop
Overeaters Anonymous will present "Mirror, Mirror," a workshop on self-image as an important part of recovering from the disease of compulsive eating from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 9 at the Salvation Army Citadel, 301 Mary St. at Bigley Avenue on the West Side. There is no fee, however, donations are welcome. They include: Baskets with Helen Efaw, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., March 16. Cost is $75 for Prickett's Fort members and $85 for nonmembers; Tatting with Kimberlee Miller, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 16 and 1 to 4 p.m., March 17, cost is $75 for members and $85 for nonmembers; and Spinning with Judy Wilson, 9 to 11 a.m., March 16 and March 17. Cost is $40 for members and $45 for nonmembers.
